2 D Glass Art Studio located in Phoenix, Arizona is where Don Skelly and Don Swick create their fused glass art work.

Don Skelly - Artist Statement
My interest in fused glass began in 2003 after my partner and I acquired 3 pieces of art from a gallery in Sedona, AZ.  We took a hands on class in fused glass and were hooked.  We quickly realized that to create what we were each envisioning we needed to have control of the entire creative process including the firing of the glass.  We needed to completely learn and utilize the fusing process. This meant we needed to invest in a large kiln and everything else we would need to produce our own fused glass art. So we did.

For me the medium of fused glass is one of positive energy – intense colors and dance of light that combine in the design of the piece to brighten the spirit of its’ admirer.  Whether it’s an abstract, floral, botanical or functional piece, the sparkles the glass emit act as sparks to one's brain. These sparks result in thoughts of good memories, imagination and playfulness.  In creating my finished works I use pieces of colored, dichroic and iridescent glass in much the same way a painter uses his palette.  The pieces of glass are like the painter's brush strokes.  To create the florals and botanicals I produce I start with a photograph I have taken and break the subject into shapes that I then cut, grind and piece together for fusing.  Some pieces receive one firing while others may go through additional steps and firing.

The pieces you see currently on display are mounted on stainless steel and finished with black powder coated aluminum frames.  They may be displayed anywhere without worry as to dryness or humidity.
